Willow Loss-Cutler-Hull began playing classical guitar in 1989. Their teachers were Erin Johnson, Dr. Enric Madriguera (with whom they earned a B.A. with a guitar concentration at the University of Texas at Dallas), and Robert Guthrie (with whom they earned a M.M. in Guitar Performance at Southern Methodist University). They've been teaching for over twenty years. They also compose from time to time.
They have done some traveling with their instrument, participating in numerous guitar festivals in Texas (they assisted with the Eastfield guitar festival, and for several years served as a judge in that festival's competition), one in the Czech Republic, and one in Austria. They were faculty at the 10th and 11th Annual Classical Minds festival, held at the University of Houston. They won first place at the Brownsville guitar ensemble competition (quartet division) in 2005, and second in their trio division in 2004. They have performed in masterclasses for several fine guitarists and composers such as William Kanengiser, John Duarte, Jorge Morel, and Martha Masters, and they performed for Roland Dyens in a tribute concert to him in 2008.
They are quite happy, because they are doing what they love.
